Description

  • Lacquer
of rectangular section, constructed with sloped sides resting on a tapered stepped foot atop four bracket feet, the rim mounted with a metal liner with bordered stuffed bosses, the corners and edges with further studded reinforcements extending onto the interior of the tray, the wooden underside inscribed in ink with an inscription reading Qianlong suici dingchou nian zhongchun [...] zhi yong ('the second year of Spring of 1757 of the Qianlong reign'), the interior lacquered red

Condition

The tray is in good condition with just minor age cracks and general surface wear. As visible in the catalogue photo, there is flaking to the paint. Please note the tray is painted lacquer and not cinnabar lacquer.
