Catalogue Note
Dallaway was chaplain and physician to the embassy of Robert Liston to the Ottoman Empire between 1794 and 1796. His travelling companion, Gaetano Mercati, made the drawings from which the illustrations for this work are taken, and also provided illustrations for J.B.S. Morritt's A Vindication of Homer. Morritt joined Dallaway on his excursions through the Troad.
This title was also published in a large paper edition with coloured plates.
