Catalogue Note
"The basis of this book is thirty-two of the plates from Willyam's earlier work, A Voyage up the Mediterranean, 1802" (Abbey; see lot ******), which were "re-aquatinted and re-etched in some passages, presumably owing to wear" (Abbey); the first 4 plates were new for this edition, first published in 1821, and this is the second issue thus, but dated a year later.
