8 volumes, 8vo (224 x 138mm.), FIRST EDITION, half-titles, original yellow printed wrappers, glassine covers on volumes 1-3, each volume in collector's quarter calf cases with marbled boards contained within two matching slipcases, small morocco book-labels inside cases, some neat repairs with occasional expert restoration to some spines (some slight loss to upper and lower backstrip and lower wrapper of volume 7), light occasional spotting to leaves and covers,  very occasional water-staining, minor small tears to wrappers (sometimes expertly repaired), lower outer edge of upper wrapper and first few leaves of volume 4 slightly chipped

A VERY RARE EXAMPLE IN THE ORIGINAL WRAPPERS OF THE FIRST BOOK EDITION OF DUMAS'S MASTERPIECE, based on the fabricated Mémoires de M. d'Artagnan by Gatien de Courtilx de Sandras (1700).
