4to (220 x 141mm.), FIRST EDITION, FIRST STATE, wood-engraved vignette of a steamboat on title-page, 14 wood-engraved plates, numerous wood-engraved text illustrations, original mottled sheep with maroon leather lettering labels on gilt-ruled spine, marbled endpapers and edges, slipcase, some very light spotting and browning, spine slightly scuffed with some wear to gilt rules, joints tender at head.
