Catalogue Note
Apparently an advance proof copy of the first edition, which was published in limited editions in both French and English in 1943, shortly before Saint-Exupéry left America to serve in the French Free Air Force in North Africa. A year later, his plane was lost over the Mediterranean.
Another advance copy in wrappers, which repeat the design of the dust-jacket (despite the text on the spine being slightly too wide and so extends onto the upper and lower panels of the wrappers), is held in the collection of The Morgan Library in New York.
