Condition

This work is in good condition overall. The canvas is well-stretched on a new stretcher. The media layer is stable. There are two three-inch reinforcements applied to the reverse of the work, one near the exact center, the other at the upper center. Under ultraviolet examination, isolated areas of inpainting become apparent in the following areas: a two inch vertical area in the upper center quadrant; one three-inch and one one-inch vertical retouch in the lower left quadrant; one three inch horizontal retouch at the center left edge; a thin six-inch vertical retouch in the upper left quadrant; a three inch vertical retouch in the central quadrant corresponding to the reinforcement on the reverse of the work. Additional retouching is present along each of the four edges, corresponding to the shape of the previous stretcher.
