Catalogue Note

The Emperor Akbar is depicted here in old age, with a drawn, careworn and somewhat wrinkled face. The scene of the aging emperor in the upper half is balanced by a verdant garden in the foreground, with a pair of ducks splashing in the central fountain. It was probably originally an illustration in a manuscript.
