Catalogue Note
The scene to the dial’s centre, painted in a naïve manner, is loosely after ‘Evening’ by William Hamilton (1751-1801). The hour chapters are made up of the 10 letters of the name James Lymen with a radiant sun at 12 and crescent moon at 6 o’clock.
