Catalogue Note
This very fine watch has a number of features that are characteristic of Pennington’s work, the ‘double-L’ balance being especially notable (see lot 58 for a note on this balance
type). The cock mounted regulator is an early example of its type in an English watch; the cock table has a cut out for the curb pins.
Amongst the watch papers inside the case back is a Pennington paper which reads: “Pennington Chronometer Maker, corner of Orchard Row, Camberwell, London, Clocks
and Watches of All Kinds.”
