  • Jade
sculpté en forme d'oiseau au corps allongé percé à l'avant, la longue queue droite fendue à l'extrêmité, la tête regardant vers l'avant, les pattes repliées sous le corps

Acquired in Beijing, April 1943, from Huang Jun (1880-1952) (Huang Bochuan), owner of Tong gu zhai  (according to Max Loehr's notes).

Condition

There is a tiny old shallow chip to the tip of the wings. The jade is smoothly polished and has encrustrations of earth in the recessed parts of the carving. The stone is not as white as the catalogue illustration suggests but of a slightly greyer tone.
