Catalogue Note

Mark Yashaev studies time, dimensions, staging, reproduction, and light to create artworks that blur the boundaries between photography and installation. The photograph within the photograph intertwines with the three-dimensional installation inhabiting the space, generating a new dialogue between the past and the present, multiple time-frames lit from the same constant source. Disrupting the approach to photography of capturing a moment in time, Yashaev captures many simultaneously. Moving between craft and high art, building installations and staging photographs, Yashaev creates a world were anything is possible.

Yashaev graduated from the MFA program at the Bezalel Academy of Art, has exhibited internationally, and has been awarded the prestigious Lauren and Mitchell Presser Photography Award for a Young Israeli Artist. Another print from this edition will be exhibited in his forthcoming solo exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
