Condition
The canvas has been wax lined and strip lined. There are some areas of fine craquelure visible on close inspection and an associated speck of paint loss in the upper edge, to the right of the figure in the background; otherwise the work appears to be in overall good condition. UV light inspection reveals areas of retouching to the background, notably in the lower left and lower right corner.

Catalogue Note
The present work has previously been known as The Slighted Child, another painting which William Conor exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1960, no.39. However an exhibition number on the back of the present canvas, 42, indicates it was exhibited at the RHA as All Alone am I in 1964.
