Condition

The canvas is lined. There is an opaque varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating, however there do not appear to be any signs of retouching visible; UV examination does reveal areas of fluorescence which relate to uneven application of varnish. There are scattered fine lines of stable craquelure with four small associated paint losses towards the centre of the upper edge. There is some rubbing along the edges resulting in a few further small losses, not visible when framed. There are places of thick impasto which is well preserved. The varnish appears to have yellowed slightly and the work might therefore benefit from a clean. This work is in overall good condition.
