Condition
The board is mostly stable, it is very slightly undulating and there is a framing panel glued to the reverse. There are four artist's pinholes along the upper right edge. There is a repaired L-shaped tear running across the upper right corner, mostly visible from the verso, with another smaller repaired tear running horizontally from the upper left edge and a third thin sinuous tear running from the lower right edge. There is some old frame abrasion along all four edges with associated minor losses. Examination under UV reveals a varnish which fluoresces strongly; nevertheless some strokes of re-touching are visible along the aforementioned repaired tears along the right and upper edges and there are some further small areas of re-touching visible to the centre of the lower edge, the figure's face and fringe.
