Condition

The board is gently curved. There is a layer of milky varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating, however UV examination does reveal an area of retouching to the figure's proper right shoulder and some further scattered spots to his chest and nose, and towards the lower edge of the composition. There is a raised vertical line on the proper right side of the figure's face that is undulating due to the artist's laying down process (approx. 7cm long). There is some frame rubbing to the extreme edges, with some minor associated paint loss in places. The reverse of the board has some surface losses. This work is in good overall condition.
