Condition
The canvas is not lined. Examination under UV light reveals small spots of retouching in places to the composition, primarily to the sitter's tie and to the right of the sitter's proper left arm, as well some isolated spots within the background. There is some stable craquelure, particularly to the white pigment and there is a small puncture to the centre of the left edge. There is a minor spot of pigment loss to the surface toward the centre of the lower edge and another very minor area of pigment loss just below the sitter's tie. This work is in overall good condition.
