Condition

Dark brown patina with golden tones. There are a few small scuffs in places, predominantly to the base, and some handling wear to the edges and some dust in the crevices, consistent with age and handling. There is an unfilled plug hole to the base, consistent with the artist's process. This work is in overall very good condition.

Catalogue Note

In 1904 Bugatti's moved his family to Paris and it was in that same year at the age of nineteen that Rembrandt was elected to the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and began to exhibit at the Paris salons. He was introduced to Adrien Hébrard, a publisher, collector and art patron. His foundry was known to represent some of the more avant-garde artists of the period and to produce the highest quality casts such as the present work cast in 1912.
