The medium is oil on silk laid down on board. The work is in fairly good overall condition. There is craquelure visible in the thickly painted areas particularly the yellows and whites, and some scattered, small associated losses: notably, in the upper left and lower center. There is minor surface dirt throughout. The work is very thinly painted in places. Under UV there are two tiny areas of fluorescence in the same yellow-green area to the left of the mother's head, associated with the aforementioned craquelure. The varnish, or possibly the adhesive has been applied somewhat unevenly. The colors are bright and fresh and the work presents very well.
