The total diamond weight is approximately 20.47 carats.
The figure of a serpent is a symbol of eternal youth and immortality in mythology. In the late 1940s, Bulgari began producing snake-inspired bracelets which quickly became a popular design for their feminine, sensual aesthetic, alluringly combined with a suggestion of danger. In later decades, the design was utilized for bracelets incorporating watches as well. In the 1960s, Bulgari introduced an array of Tubogas-style Serpenti watches in white gold, yellow gold or a combination, along with various enamel examples, many with diamond and other gemstone accents. With the rising popularity of the Serpenti watch, the brand had a one-of-a-kind timepiece specially made for Elizabeth Taylor, which she displayed on the set of “Cleopatra” in 1960s bringing stronger admiration and attention to this piece and reinforcing its already-wide appeal.
For the present lot released in 2009, Bulgari has combined their iconic design with an impressive diamond-set bracelet of approximately 20.47 carats to create a timelessly elegant piece.
