Catalogue Note
With a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin, an Extract from the Archives and interchangeable solid case back.
Launched in 1993, the Ref.5050 was the first automatic perpetual calendar wristwatch featuring retrograde date and center seconds from Patek Philippe. Available in yellow, pink, white gold or platinum and with either a baton index or considerably rarer Roman dial, the model was discontinued in 2002 when it was replaced with the Ref.5059 and then Ref.5159 with Officer-style case. The original Ref.5050 is today a highly sought-after collector's watch, a modern classic enjoying popularity both amongst scholars and aficionados for everyday wear.
Ref.5050 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, Second Edition, p. 296
