Catalogue Note

Ref. 5100 was specially manufactured by Patek Philippe to commemorate its entry into the third millennium in the year 2000. This reference is the first 10-day power reserve wristwatch made by Patek Philippe and thus historically significant in the development of complicated wristwatches produced by the company.

Inspired by the classic 1952 ref. 2554, the ref. 5100 is housed in a remarkable flare sided case which reminds us of the lines of a manta ray.  Images of a manta ray were used in promotional material to emphasize the similarity between the two. The chronometer rated movement is clearly visible from the back of the watch, as it is fitted with a sapphire crystal back. Instantly popular among collectors and enthusiasts, this reference was voted best wristwatch by the Robb Report in 2000 and was produced in a limited edition of 750 pieces in pink gold.

This watch has never previously been offered at auction.
