Catalogue Note

Accompanied by F.P. Journe guarantee, instruction booklet, presentation case and outer packaging.

Journe unveiled his first collection at the Basel Fair in 1999, adopting the spirit of "Invenit et Fecit" Latin for "invented and made". The Tourbillon Souverain was the first watch Journe ever created himself.  This novel timepiece offered the exclusive combination of a wristwatch with tourbillon and constant-force device.  Despite the model's immediate success, Journe decided to cease production in 2003 in order to maintain exclusivity and develop his own creativity.

Thus, the Tourbillon Souverain à seconde morte was born.  A more sophisticated version of its predecessor, it includes a deadbeat second’s device. In 2004, the Tourbillon Souverain à seconde morte was awarded the esteemed 'Aiguilled'or' from the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix.

The present lot is part of F.P. Journe's very exclusive 'Black Label' series. The Black Label series are produced only in platinum and with a black lacquered dial produced especially for this range. Only available in F.P. Journe Boutiques they are manufactured in very limited numbers, only 12 watches per boutique per year are delivered per year, and only 2 watches per model are made available in any one boutique.

Featured within an impressive 40 mm case this exclusive and elegantly styled timepiece is a highly desirable item for patrons of independent horology.
