Catalogue Note

Depicting a monumental figure of Moses, standing barefoot on mountain tops, holding the Tablets of the Law inscribed with the Ten Commandments. Upper cartouche inscribed “God, the Guardian of Israel” (Psalms 121:4) The borders with menorahs and floral imagery interspersed with five further cartouches, enclosing lines from Deuteronomy 10:12 "And now, Israel, what does the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul". Dated with a Hebrew chronogram incorporated into the text in the lower border [5]687 = 1927
