Catalogue Note

A complete copy of Nahal Kedumim, a kabbalistic commentary on the Torah by Hayyim Joseph David Azulai (1724-1806); its text includes material that had not appeared in his previous Torah commentary, Sefer Penei David. In the present work, Azulai, known popularly by the acronym Hida, includes not only his own insights but collates those of earlier sages such as Eleazar ben Judah of Worms (ca. 1165-ca. 1230), Ephraim ben Isaac of Regensburg (1110-1175), and Solomon Astruc of Barcelona (fourteenth century). Nahal Kedumim was published as part of Torah Or, a two-volume edition of the Hebrew Pentateuch, in Livorno, in 1782.
