Catalogue Note
The present work contains two commentaries on the Zohar. The first, comprising 9 ff., treats the Idra Rabba section of the Zohar. This commentary is unknown from any other source and has never been printed. The second work (72 ff.) is a portion of Omer Man, a commentary by Menahem de Lonzano (ca. 1550-before 1624) on the Idra Zuta section of the Zohar. The present manuscript predates the first printed edition of Omer Man (Vilna: 1883), which censored Lonzano’s critical remarks about the teachings of Isaac Luria and Hayyim Vital. It must be considered, therefore, a valuable witness to the earlier, uncensored recension of Lonzano’s commentary.
