Miniature Torah Scroll, ca 1892

Manuscript scroll (Height of parchment: 5 1/4 in.; 134 mm:: Height of text: 4 1/8 in.; 105 mm). Written in ink on parchment, in an Ashkenazic "Ari Zal" (Nusach S'fard) script; Vavei ha-Amudim; 42 lines; 265 columns on 42 membranes. Covered with: a red silk mantle with yellow silk fringes, embroidered with yellow thread, incorporating a crown and the Hebrew letters Kaf and Tav (for Keter Torah), and the Hebrew date 5652 (=1892), all set within a star of David ; below the star are embroidered the initials B. U. in Fraktur script. Not mounted on rollers.
