Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 15 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, and with 3 tight hairlines to the jewel cabochons. This is a relatively low number in proportion to the vast number of glass tiles that were required to execute this large and complex shade design. All of these hairlines appear stable, and have recently been sensitively stabilized by a professional Tiffany conservator. The bronze base displays an exceptionally deep and rich layered russet brown and green patina. The bronze surfaces with some occasional surface scratches, gentle rubbing, and a few minor surface discolorations consistent with age and gentle handling. The telescoping device on the base is fully functional. All of the sockets and paddle switches appear original and undisturbed. With a replaced "pig tail" heat cap. A strong example of this iconic dragonfly model displaying an elegant and well-proportioned shade and base pairing. The coloration of the dragonflies encircling the shade display a superb range of color in different shades of blue, green and ochre, further heightening the visual interest of the lamp. Additionally, the eyes of each dragonfly are articulated in four different color schemes - cobalt, turquoise, green and red. The lamp presents beautifully in person with strong visual presence. When viewing this lamp firsthand the coloration of the glass is more luminous and nuanced than seen in the catalogue photography.
