Condition

Overall in very good condition. With a few minute open air bubbles on the vase interior, inherent in the making and not visually detracting. The top of the shoulder with a small molten drip of glass, also inherent in the making and not visually detracting. The outermost surfaces of the lower vase perimeter with a few fine and light surface scratches. A gorgeous jewel-like vase displaying superb, well-controlled pulled feather decoration and outstanding coloration. The vase exterior is beautifully iridized, imparting the vase with strong luminous color and a range of brilliant hues. When viewing this vase firsthand, the body of the vase is a brilliant opaque orange red (not as magenta-red as seen in the catalogue illustration). The present vase is numbered E2282. A nearly identical red decorated vase which was embellished with an elaborate mount executed by Edouard Colonna is numbered E2264. This vase was sold by Sotheby’s in the Edwin and Mary Triestman Collection of Important Glass (sale N08265, lot 302, June 14, 2006), and is now in the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass.
