with a globular body surmounted by a waisted neck and gently everted rim, all supported on a slightly splayed foot, cast with a low-relief band of confronting phoenix on a fine-scroll ground divided by low, notched flanges, the neck with a wide band enclosing further archaistic hook and C-scrolls on a spiral and leiwen ground, the bronze of a variegated brown patination with areas of malachite-green and cuprite-red encrustation

Condition
The base of the vase is detached 3/4 of the way around and needs to be stabilized. There is some residue to a small section of the body from what appears to have been something taped to the surface. The patina has been thickly applied obscuring some of the casting on the upper section of the vase. The vase with expected pitting and wear.
