well-carved in the round, one horse sitting, the tail swept around the haunches, the body turning and resting the front hooves playfully atop the slightly larger recumbent horse with legs folded under, the heads with finely incised features nearly touching, the long tails and manes delicately striated, the stone with milky white and small pale russet inclusions, fitted wood stand (2)

Condition
The carving is in good overall condition. The figure of the recumbent horse has tiny nicks to the tips of the ears and one back hoof. The surface overall with appropriate wear from age and handling. The color of the stone is a bit more celadon green than appears in the catalogue image.
