- bronze, enamel
of fanghu form, the pear-shaped body rising from a splayed foot to a flared rim, the shoulders flanked by a pair of gilt-bronze animal-mask handles suspending loose rings, each facet of the body brightly decorated with different flower scenes, all between bands of florets, the neck encircled by pendent lappets and clouds, the foot decorated with horses galloping among flame wisps above crested waves, the base later added and incised with a six-character Jingtai mark
Condition
The base is later added. The handles are possibly later added or replaced. There is an area of impact to one side of the vase under the handle with enamels restored. There is characteristic pitting and flaking to enamels with small areas of infill. There is wear to the gilding, and small dents to the foot.
