seated in dhyanasana, both hands in vitarka mudra, one supporting a patra, the right hand raised to hold a now-missing willow sprig, wearing a shawl and dhoti open at the chest to reveal a beaded necklace, the borders incised at the hems with lotus, the face with downcast eyes and benevolent expression, crowned by an elaborate headdress surmounted by Amitabha Buddha, all supported on a three-tiered lotus throne with pendent sashes at the corners, above a hexagonal galleried plinth cast with stylized waves, raised on six ruyi-form supports, traces of gilt and red pigment (2)
Condition
The bronze Guanyin and stand are in overall good condition. The figure with a small loss and wear along the edge of the base. There is some corrosion at the base of the lotus stand where it fits into the galleried plinth. There are small expected nicks to edges and wear associated with age. Much of the gilt has worn away leaving traces of gilt and undercoating.
