Description

the flattened globular body rising from a short foot to a cylindrical neck, flanked by a pair of ruyi-shaped handles, each face painted with a lobed quatrefoil cartouche enclosing birds and flowers, all reserved against a celadon ground with scattered floral sprays, the rim and the foot encircled by ruyi and lappet bands, wood stand

Condition

The moonflask is in good condition with the exception of loss to the gilded decoration on the handles, loss to the glossy glaze surface on the handles (possibly cleaned), a circa 1cm., firing crack to the underside of one handle and a circa 1cm., diam., bruise to the lower side of the other handle, minor glaze firing imperfections including iron-spots and pin-holes and very light glaze scratches.
