Description

each rising from a short straight foot to flared angled sides and everted rim, painted to the exterior with five iron-red bats in flight amongst swirling clouds in underglaze blue, the base of the interior and the domed covers similarly decorated, inscribed to the top of the cover and the base of the bowl with six-character marks in underglaze blue
Condition
The tea bowls and covers are in good condition with the exception of a 1cm., wide area of over-painting at the rim of one and an associated circa 1cm., V-shaped section of spray to the exterior, a 1mm., chip to the footring of one cover, and two tiny chips to the edge of one cover rim.
