the deep rounded sides rising from a short spreading foot to an everted foliate rim, painted and gilt to each of the six sides with a large rectangular panel enclosing birds amidst floral sprays, the foot pierced with ruyi-shaped panels reserved on a dense foliate ground and the rim with leaf-shaped panels enclosing flowers and insects reserved on a dense floral ground
Condition
This brightly enamelled jardinière is in good condition with the exception of restoration to a V-shaped firing crack and possible break to one of the indented corners of the rim with over-painting extending 13cm., down the exterior of the body, a restoration to another indented corners with over-painting to circa 7cm., of the underside of the rim, restoration to another indented corner with over-painting extending in a V-shape circa 8cm., down the exterior of the vessel and some further minor rim frit restorations.
