the front face inlaid with jade, soapstone, agate, mother-of-pearl and malachite, depicting an immortal and an attendant in a landscape with pine and a crane, the reverse decorated with prunus blossom and an inscription, the frame with mother-of-pearl-inlaid floral scrolls against mottled brown lacquer

Acquired in 1985.

Condition

The screen is a good condition overall, with minor chips and losses and small areas of retouching consistent with age. There are some shallow chips along the edges of the foot. General minor age cracks, particularly along the sides.
