the globular lower bulb gently curving to a narrow waist, surmounted by a slender upper bulb rising to a cylindrical neck, flanked by a pair of S-shaped handles, covered overall with an even olive-green glaze, the base with an impressed seal mark

Christie’s South Kensington, 5th February 1998, lot 243.

Condition

The rim has a circa 1cm wide chip which has been restored, with an associated flake (0.3x0.1cm). One handle with a very small glaze flake. There is overpainting along the luting line on the lower gourd, the lower gourd and the bottom of the handles are oversprayed so it is not possible to investigate further under UV light.
