Description

  • bronze
the globular body rising from a short spreading foot to a short waisted neck, cast around the exterior in low relief with three wave bands divided by inlaid geometric bands, the neck inlaid in gold and silver with two large taotie masks, the shoulder set with a pair of taotie mask handles suspending loose rings 

Condition

There is an oval area of repair (patch) 4cm by 2cm to the lower wave band to one side. There is also a crack through the join of one handle. There is also some rubbing to the original (darker) patina and there are some minor nicks and scratches to the rim, sides and foot. There are also some areas of slight rubbing to the silver inlay throughout.
