of archaistic gui form, the compressed globular body supported on a flared circular footrim, set with two loop handles issuing from animal masks, the sides chased in relief with a central band of flame scrolls, below a band of stylised taotie, flanked by two confronting bird-like chilong and above a band of ruyi at the foot, the base with an incised Hu Wenming mark within a rectangular gilt panel
Condition
This censer is in good condition, but it does have various tiny nicks to the rim and foot and areas of rubbing to the gilding to the handles, numerous flame motifs to the central band, the rim, foot and the borders to the central band.
