Description

  • PAPER
ink and colour on paper, hanging scroll,
signed Geiyi Wang Xian, with a dedication and two seals of the artist; together with Gu Zengshou (1836-?), PLUM BLOSSOM AND ROCK, ink on paper, hanging scroll

 

Condition

The Wang Geyi is quite faded to a pale brown colour and there is a repaired semi-circular tear (9.5cm) to the lower middle section of the trunk, another diagonal repaired tear below this (6cm) and a further vertical repaired tear (4cm) with a current small tear to the central lower edge of the work. There is also quite a degree of staining and scuffing to the central and lower sections of the work and some light horizontal creasing. The Gu Zhengshou painting is in good condition, but there is an area of staining (3cm by 2cm) the left hand side to the centre area of the work. There is also some minor staining to the lower and upper areas of the work and the paper has faded especially to the upper section. There is also some minor horizontal creasing from being rolled.
