Description

  • lacquer and silvered metal
the rounded sides rising from a short foot to a flared rim, carved to the exterior with mythical beasts striding amongst cresting waves and jagged rocks above a keyfret band, the interior lined with silvered metal

Provenance

Roger Keverne, London.

Condition

There are three areas to the rim that have been touched up (4cm, 2.4cm and 12cm long). There are traces of repair to the lacquer and minor age cracks to the wave ground. The foot has possibly been rebuilt, as it is unusual in that it is flat without a rim.
