Description

the ovoid body rising from a slightly tapering foot to a wide cylindrical neck, finely painted to the exterior with birds amongst flowering peony, bamboo and rockwork, the upper surface of the cover painted with a scholar seated beside a river

Condition

The vase is in overall good condition with just a piece of kiln grit above the peony flower on the vase. The cover is associated with overfiring which has resulted in bubbling.
