the barrel-shaped body set with three short legs issuing from animal masks, rising to a flat incurved rim, boldly painted with three monks amongst a garden landscape, below shaped cartouches enclosing beribboned treasures reserved on a diaper band, the rim encircled by a foliate sprays above a band of vertical stripes, Japanese lacquer cover
Condition
The censer is in very good condition with the exception of minor glaze firing imperfections and surface scratches. The lacquer cover is a later addition.
