of circular form, the domed cover painted with a central medallion enclosing a butterfly with its wings outstretched, surrounded by four further butterflies interspersed amongst stylised camellia sprays, the sides of the cover and the box similarly decorated with further butterflies and camellia scrolls, the base with a six-character reign mark within a double circle

The cover had been broken into half, with an associated 3cm hairline rim crack and restored chips. There are minor glaze firing imperfections such as iron spots and pinholes.
