Description

deftly carved and hollowed in the form of a flattened vase issuing from rockwork and lingzhi, flanked by two boys, one climbing up the side of the vase and another below holding stems of prunus flowers in one hand and chrysanthemum in the other, the semi-translucent stone with some cloud-white inclusions, wood stand

Condition

This jade vase is in good condition, but has had a small chip polished out to the leaf at the rim of the vase. The actual colour is more green compared with the catalogue illustration.

Two vases carved with the Hehe twins, were sold in these rooms, the first, 28th October 1988, lot 268, and the second, with its matching cover, 7th June 1994, lot 118; another was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 18th May 1989, lot 840; and two were sold in our New York rooms, one 7th/8th April 1988, lot 182, and the other, 26th November 1991, lot 9.
