each finely potted with thin sides rising from a short foot, decorated in the 'boneless' technique with three roses each at a different phase of bloom, the stems brightly painted in shades of yellowish and bluish green, with multi-coloured jianhongsha ('red silk cut with scissors') circular florets extending across the surface towards a single descending butterfly, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a four-character reign mark
