Catalogue Note

Asaph Stone was a wealthy New York merchant and director of the Merchant's Fire Insurance Company.  He married in 1810 Jane McFarlane, and in 1839 he built five elegant row houses just off Washington Square, including his own residence at 107 Waverley Place.
