Condition
base lining crumpled and base tactfully restored otherwise good condition. No signature or date on the miniature, apparent traces of mould on miniature.

The miniature is said to be signed and dated van Blarenberghe 1783. Even though Louis-Nicolas and Henri van Blarenberghe did both paint balloon launches, this specific scene is not recorded in their catalogue raisonné.
