Catalogue Note
Nicolas Huguet became master in 1787, from the quai des Morfondus. He is then regularly listed until 1793 at the same address, quai de l'Horloge. In 1806, he is listed on the quai des Orfèvres until 1816. A snuff box by Huguet with the portrait of Napoleon I is in the musée du Louvre and illustrated by Serge Grandjean, Les tabatières du musée du Louvre, Paris, 1981, no. 368.
As the box is very much in the style of the 1780s not the early 1800s, it is probable that Huguet was responsible for undertaking certain repairs to the box which necessitated him remarking it.
